A temporary placement for a map cataloger has arisen, as follows:

*Map Cataloguing Manager, Cartographic & Topographic Materials, The
British Library*

Ref: S&C00355

Location: London, St Pancras

Salary: from 31,076 UKP per annum

Hours: Full time –36 hours per week

Fixed term post until 30 September 2013

The postholder will plan and manage the work of the team dedicated to
the cataloguing and processing of cartographic material; prepare
appropriate statistics; catalogue using established processes, standards
and formats; assist and advise in resolving policy and procedural
problems and train and develop cataloguing team as appropriate.

The candidate will have a university degree; experience cataloguing all
types of cartographic material using MARC21, AACR2, Dewey DC, LCSH and
NACO etc; experience managing cataloguing teams; awareness of national
and international cataloguing standards, especially RDA, and an
up-to-date knowledge of map cataloguing; strong project management
skills evinced by successful completion of projects; and a demonstrated
ability to collaborate, inform and communicate effectively.
