Subject: In Memoriam: Ruth Hartman (1916 - 2014)



Someone close to GovPubMM passed away during the weekend.

Ruth Hartman (1916 - 2014) was the founding librarian for Government
Publications, Maps, and Microforms (GovPubMM) back in 1962. She was the one
who organized the collection and, I believe, she may also suggested Central
should become a government documents depository.

We got the opportunity to meet her during GovPubMM's 50th anniversary a
couple of years ago. What a great lady! She shared with all of us some
stories about the collection. Ruth is going to be sorely missed by all who
knew her. She was 23 days short of her 98th birthday.
