Belle Lipton, GIS Intern at the AGS Library, created this wonderful Web app for the Milwaukee Sanborn maps.

One can search by address, pan and zoom around the screen and there is a slider (top right)to move between geo-referenced Sanborns and modern map.


One of my favorite sites from the 1910 Sanborn, 3700 N Morris Blvd. Give it a try - search for that address in the top left search field.

Hello all,


Thank you to everyone who replied to my request for links to your online fire insurance maps. Many institutions have their maps online with excellent finding aids. Many libraries provide online access via the ProQuest database. The best single place for online Sanborn maps is the Library of Congress.


I created a quick libguide with the information I gathered. It is a work in progress but includes all the information shared with me via my Maps-L inquiry.
