*Virtual Judging Opportunity for State Agriscience Fair Written Reports*
We have decided to conduct the Agriscience Fair Written Report & Application judging virtually and completely online again this year. We are still in need of judges for this process. We will share information on how to judge applications and provide you with judging links to view all reports and enter your scores into an online judging rubric. You will have a week to review & submit your scores online. If we can secure enough judges, each judge will evaluate 10-12 applications. You can request certain categories to judge or not
We are again offering the P-5 (Elementary Agriculture) endorsement classes again this summer at ABAC. The courses are 100% online. Enrollment is open for summer.
Upon completion of the three courses, we will work with you to submit your information to the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) to receive your endorsement in Elementary Agriculture. This endorsement is for those teachers that already hold a teaching certification in Georgia (Ag Ed or Ele Ed) and preservice students enrolled in an approved teacher preparation program. Others can enroll, but may have to complete additional exams through the GaPSC.
If you already have your Elementary Certification, you can take the Ag Ed GACE to add on the Ag Ed Certification to your certificate. If you are elementary certified you do not have to take the Ag Ed Endorsement courses at ABAC, but you can take them if you prefer those courses instead of taking the Ag Ed GACE. To my knowledge, the Ag Ed GACE will still be listed on your certificate as Ag Ed Certification (6-12), but since you already have your elementary certification, it will work for GAPSC.
Great ideas from Ms. Peterson at Westside Elementary.

Good morning, We are planning on offering a CPR training session during Mid-Winter. There will be 2 hours in person (so both breakout sessions) and 2 hours that you will have to complete on your own. There is a cost of $20 to get the card which is what the Red Cross charges.
I wanted to share this news from Mrs. Peterson from Westside Elementary.
Mrs. Peterson attended the National Ag in the Classroom conference last year through Georgia Farm Bureau, where she did a breakout session about elementary agricultural education. This teacher below from New York attended a breakout session that Mrs. Peterson did and is now putting what she learned from our Georgia elementary ag teacher into practice in New York.
The Department of Agricultural Education and Communication at ABAC is again offering the courses needed for the P5 Elementary Endorsement awarded through the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC). Teachers that are already certified in Elementary or 6-12 Agriculture in the state of Georgia will only need the three courses. The courses are 100% online and asynchronous. You do not have to take all three courses this summer. However, the courses are designed to not overwhelm those who are taking all three. The summer semester begins on May 13 and classes end on July 23. The cost is ABAC regular
I am looking for some specific ideas of how you integrate STEM into your classroom. Also - I would love some specific examples of how Ag Ed students are ready for Ag related careers. Thank you.

Good Afternoon,
During the recent cleaning and rehabilitation of the Warnell Pond (aka “Turtle Pond”), 19 turtles were gathered and have been housed in our lab. We are preparing to put turtles back in the pond but only native species will be returned. Of the 19 turtles, only 5 were native (yellow-bellied sliders and common musk turtles). The other 14 turtles were all non-native species (red-eared sliders) or hybrids between our native turtles and the non-native turtles.

Mr. Billy Hughes may have access to some extra end of year funds that he may be able to use in elementary agricultural education. Please help us identify your needs. Specifically, we need to know at least one big ticket item (over $10,000) and what other items (maybe 5 items that could add up to $10,000) are needed for your elementary agricultural education program. Mr. Hughes is working with DOE to secure these funds for your program, but we want to make sure we request what you need.
I know some of you may have questions about this funding. I don't have many answers right now. Mr. Hughes was notified yesterday that we could use some Essers funding for Elementary Agricultural Education, but we don't have any other specifics yet. Thank you to those of you who have submitted your thoughts. Thank you to Mr. Justin McDowell at Hamilton Elementary for starting a google doc for EAE teachers to collaborate ideas <https://docs.google.com/document/d/1tG7d5N4olwjRG-qFAwJK2NDnw1pe_d21VZ0vPqr6C4Y/edit?usp=sharing> for the funding. Feel free to check this list & add it to it as you see fit. Please do not delete or edit someone else's
Just a reminder - please be sure to add your requested items to this google doc by 3:00 p.m. today, Thursday, May 11th. Mr. Hughes needs to submit his request before the end of the day.
Please reach out if you have any questions. Thank you.

There are 4 spaces left in this workshop if any ag ed teachers want to go. I would think it would be best for elementary ag ed teachers. If a teacher wants to go they need to call Annette Wise 229-824-4567 reserve a space. They can then mail in the registration form.
