Kevin Jump and I want to thank the site supervisors, teachers, chaperones, and FFA members involved in the VERY successful two days of community service during the 96th State FFA Convention this year. Everyone worked hard and seemed to have a great time fulfilling the "Living to Serve" part of the FFA Motto last Wednesday and Thursday. Homeowners and site supervisors alike had nothing but positive comments about the students', teachers', and chaperones' efforts and results.
We had one Bagwell WLC Recipient and one Growing America's Farmers Scholarship Recipient not receive their plaque during the State Convention. If one of these belongs to your student, please let me know so I can get them delivered.

As a person, we celebrate many milestones in our life. Marriage, birth of children, careers, and retirement to name a few. As teachers of Agriculture, we celebrate many student successes without looking for recognition. However, in retirement there is a chance that your peers will recognize you for the contributions you made to students and to the profession. Thus,

Hey Christa,
Can you please send this out asap.
I have a friend looking to get rid of the following; they can deliver to the state show.
Greetings, friends! Please find the February Update from National FFA attached below. There is quite a bit of information, but I wanted to highlight a few things below:
*Page 1 *- National FFA Teacher Ambassador Applications - If you're interested in applying to be a National FFA Teacher Ambassador, use the link to apply by March 1. Nancy Sell and I would be happy to answer any questions you might have about the program.
I hope you all had a productive and restful President's Day. Please send this email out on your ListServ to your agriculture educators in your respective state.
My name is Teresa Lindstrom and I am a graduate student in Agricultural Education at Murray State University under the direction of Dr. Kristie Guffey, faculty advisor. I am sharing this for a Georgia ag teacher with a recently re-established ag program who is asking for advice from other Georgia ag teachers. This is not for research, but for this ag teacher to help set parameters and expectations for their livestock program. If you supervise livestock SAE show projects at your school, please take a few minutes to let a fellow Georgia ag teacher know how things work in your chapter.
Thank you! Thank you for the work that you do to initiate and then develop student SAEs. Thank you for hours spend visiting projects, taking photos and discussing the value of keeping accurate records. Thank you for checking (and re-checking) over proficiency award applications until they are exactly right, for asking for help when you don't understand and for getting them all turned in by February 1. What you do matters, and your young people are benefiting from your effort and passion. It's an exciting day when we get to announce the results of our proficiency award applications

Ag Education lost a true trailblazer last night in the passing of Ms. Connie Collier. Ms. Collier was the first female graduate in Ag Education from Auburn University and was the first female Ag Teacher in the Southeast. She taught for 7 years in Alabama and then moved to Cass High School in Bartow County where she taught from 1979 until her retirement in 2012. All who knew her were better for it. There will be a memorial service planned for her in the Spring.

For the past three years ABAC Agricultural Education and Communication Department has held an Ag Issues CDE/Invitational. This is an FFA CDE that happens at the national level but is not yet a full CDE in Georgia. However, Georgia FFA recognizes our winner and will certify the winning team to compete at the national level events. The past two years Georgia has done well at the national level. Please consider preparing your team and competing in this event. We plan to hose the event Friday, May 3rd at ABAC.
Happy Friday! I have had a couple of former students who have attended this program and thoroughly enjoyed it. Let me know if you have questions.
