Allen,

I have not displayed my Marine Mollusks, but only river mussels and river snails using that technique. The markets were local, the grocer knowledgeable of source, and sometimes actually on the water’s edge, or even being unloaded from the boat. Thus, I was also able to get good location data. Was blessed to be their 6 months of Dec 2012 - June 2013, in two locations, plus extensive travel for weekends jaunts and far away vacation weeks, etc.

Here are 3 Label Examples: (2 from Wet-Markets, and 1 self-collected)

   Cipangopaludina chinensis (Gray, 1863)

   Personally Collected Live April 2013

River Snail, Green Mud Snail w/operculum

Purch: Minhang Watertown Wet-Market at G60/S4,

From: Huangpu River, Minhang District, Shanghai, China PRC

   Cristaria plicata (Leach, 1814)

   Personally Collected Live Jan 2013

Purch: Better Life Square Wet-Market Jiefang Blvd., Hengyang.

From: Xiang Jiang River, Zhengxiang District, Hengyang, Hunan, PRC

Nodularidia douglasiae (Griffith & Pidgion, 1833)

Self-Collected on Riverbank near S336 bridge, Dec. 2012

Zhengshui River, Zhengxiang District, Hengyang, Hunan, PRC

Good. Simply putting Shanghai as the origin would be rather misleading as the ocean location from which it was originally collected could be very far away.

When I lived in China, I purchased many live shells at wet markets.

Rather than saying self-collected, on my labels I wrote (for example):

       Personally collected live at:

Tongchuan Lu Wet Market, Shanghai, China. May 17, 2013.

Giving the judge the discretion to decide if it is self-collected or not.

The shells I found on the shores, in water, or on trees, etc., were labeled as self-collected.
