Dear all,

The Faculty of Science at the University of Sydney opened a full time PhD position. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated candidate with a strong data analysis and modelling background, and an interest in Ag-tech applications in forage cropping systems.

Project:
This PhD project will integrate advanced technologies (precision agriculture, real-time monitoring of plants and soils, advanced crop modelling [mainly APSIM]) to develop and test new and innovative forage options for intensive systems with the ultimate goal of increasing farm resilience, reducing risk of exposure to extreme climate and achieving more efficient use of scarce resources, particularly water and land (cost reduction). More information on the position is available here: https://www.dairyup.com.au/project/digitising-forage-options-for-intensive-dairy-systems/

Eligibility:

  * A bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Science, Veterinary Science or equivalent field.
  * Meet all admission criteria for a PhD program at the Faculty of Science, The University of Sydney.
  * Be in Australia at time of application or able to come to Australia in the short term.
Note: International students must provide evidence of financial support for international tuition fees at the University (~$50,000/year) at time of application.

Scholarship:

  * Dairy UP offers competitive, Stipend Only Scholarships for 3 years, with a maximum possible extension of 6 months.
  * The scholarships will be advertised at specific times and processed through The University of Sydney.
  * The value of the scholarship is offered at ~$40,000/yr, indexed and tax-free; a higher rate than the minimum Government RTP.
  * The scholarship does not include, and cannot be used for, payment of tuition fees for international students.
