We are sad to inform that Paulo César Sentelhas, Professor of Agrometeorology at ESALQ - Univ. of São Paulo, in Piracicaba, Brazil, has passed away on September 21, 2021, due to complications from COVID-19.

Paulo was a prolific scientist, a great mentor, and an outstanding colleague and friend. In addition to his duties at USP, he was active in several journal editorial boards. He was Editor-in-Chief of Scientia Agricola and area editor of the International Journal of Biometeorology, among others.

During his 25-yr career he trained many graduate students on agrometeorology and crop modeling. He attended the DSSAT International Training Program in 2013 in Griffin, and made numerous contributions for the advancement of agricultural modeling application on sugarcane and other crops.

He is survived by his wife Rosana and their three daughters. Please join us in keeping Paulo and his family in our thoughts and prayers. He will be remembered as a fun, reliable, loyal, and hard-working friend and colleague, who made important contributions to all of us and to our research.
