Dear DSSAT group,

A postdoctoral contract offer is to be located at University of Florida, North Florida Research and Education Center (NFREC), Quincy, FL. USA. Candidates who are interested in crop nitrogen modeling aimed at optimizing crop production while minimizing nitrate leaching losses, under the DSSAT umbrella are encouraged to apply. The candidate will maintain a strong collaborate effort with DSSAT modelers located at UF main campus, Gainesville, FL. Salary is commensurate with candidate's experience and UF provides competitive fringe benefits.

Postdoctoral Research Associate in Crop Nitrogen Management and Modeling at University of Florida

Role profile: We are seeking a PhD degree in agronomy, soil science, agricultural engineering, biometry, applied statistics, or related discipline with strong experience in process-based modeling.

Duties & responsibilities: The project combines experimentation and simulation approaches to identify key soil and in-season plant nitrogen status-based factors into a modeling framework that will optimize crop production and reduce nitrogen leaching losses. Involvement with stakeholders and education outreach (15%) is expected.

Qualifications/skills:
*         PhD degree in agronomy, soil science, agricultural engineering, biometry, applied statistics, or related discipline
*         Previous experience and training in process-based models (i.e., DSSAT) and open-source system programming languages, such as Python or R is required
*         Experience with geospatial software (i.e., ArcGIS Pro or QGIS) is preferred
*         Demonstrated field research experience is expected
*         Candidate must have a commitment to UF core values of excellence, discovery and innovation, inclusion, civility, community and stewardship
*         Self-motivated with strong communication skills
*         Valid driver's license required
