I've been doing personal research on land surveys in Missouri Territory and Arkansas Territory while trying to pin down an ancestor who reportedly worked as a surveyor.

In doing so, I came across the Missouri Society of Professional Surveyors. Our cartographic colleagues may find their quarterly newsletter, Missouri Surveyor, of interest. It is freely available in pdf format and appears to contain a variety of articles on the history of land surveying.
