Hi Paige,

We had a similar need last year when we started to send all USGS topo maps
east of the Mississippi River into storage due to weight constraints on the
mezzanine where the maps are stored. I could not find a free source for
the indexes. We ended up working a deal with MapLink to buy their scans
and html code. We now have all of the pages up on the Web and have linked
the Web pages to our OPAC records for each state.

You should be able to see the US from this page:
http://cgi.stanford.edu/dept/SUL/library/cgi-bin/depts/branner/show.cgi
. Let me know if this link doesn't work. I'm trying it from on campus and
so can't tell you how it works off campus.

Click on any state to drill down through the scales.

Perhaps your colleague could link to these pages? I cannot guarantee the
persistence of the URLs forever, but don't see them changing any time soon.

Hope this helps,

Julie
