It is an honor to announce that Matthew A. Knutzen has been appointed
/*Geospatial Librarian*/ at New York Public Library.

His undergraduate degree in cartography is from Berkeley and his MFA is
from Pratt Institute. This combination of studies allowed him to develop
his art career with a focus and theme of maps, many of which you have
seen on the covers of _Cartographic Perspectives_. He also brings to the
Map Division hands on skills and total awareness of cartographic design
and production, GIS, digital imagery and computer mapping -- skills for
the 21st century curator.

Since I first hired Matt as a Map Specialist at NYPL and enjoyed the
creativity and strength of his collaboration over the past several
years, it is a very real pleasure to see that the future of the Lionel
Pincus & Princess Firyal Map Division will be in his hands. The first
day he walked in to the Map Division by chance, he commented that "he
could live in this place." Well, now he gets to do just that! 24/7
or thereabouts! Congratulations Matt!!!

He may be reached at the address below.
