          The rich but painstaking-to-use "National Union Catalog of
          Manuscript Collections" (NUCMC) now has a 25-year cumulative
          subject and corporate author index, which will be shelved at
          the end of the set (see Roger record below).
 
          To be sure, this is not a resource for undergraduates
          looking for primary sources.  But it does reduce the time in
          locating manuscript collections in the U.S.  For example,
          under San Diego the index has 2/3 page of listing.
          "Television" goes on for a page. "University of California"
          has about 2 columns, and is subdivided by campus (mostly
          UCB).
